Code of Conduct
OpenSourceNest runs Pygenthic 2027 as a free, open, in-person conference at The Block Hive, Nsukka on Saturday, April 3, 2027. This code of conduct applies to everyone — attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and organisers — for the full duration of the event and in every official Pygenthic channel around it.
Our pledge
We want Pygenthic to be a welcoming, harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, gender, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, and religion.
Expected behaviour
- Be respectful and considerate in speech and actions.
- Be welcoming — actively invite differing viewpoints and experiences.
- Give and gracefully accept constructive feedback.
- Take responsibility for your words and actions, and learn from mistakes.
- Respect the boundaries of other attendees, speakers and volunteers.
Unacceptable behaviour
The following will not be tolerated, at the venue or in any official channel:
- Harassment, intimidation or discrimination in any form, including based on the characteristics listed in Our pledge.
- Sexual language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Disruption of talks, workshops or other event activities.
- Publishing others’ private information — such as a physical or email address — without explicit permission.
- Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate.
Reporting
If you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour, or have any other concerns, tell a volunteer or organiser on the day, or email info@opensourcenest.org as soon as you can. Reports are handled promptly and in confidence — we won’t share who made a report without their consent.
Enforcement
Organisers may take any action they deem appropriate in response to a violation, including a warning, removal from the event without a refund of any fees, or a ban from future Pygenthic and OpenSourceNest events. Organisers asked to stop unacceptable behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
Scope
This code of conduct applies at The Block Hive, Nsukka for the full duration of Pygenthic 2027, and to official Pygenthic spaces online — including the waitlist, email, and our social channels — before and after the event.
